R Studio training (undergrads)
Being able to effectively analyse and investigate your data is a crucial skill. Using a coding language such as R can save you a lot of time compared to other software packages and learning it can be a very rewarding experience - trust me!
• Maybe you’re an undergraduate student with little or no experience in data analysis or R Studio, and would like help to learn the basics.
• Maybe you’ve been using Excel to make graphs and want an easier, more appealing and faster way of doing it.
• Or maybe you have a nice dataset but aren’t sure what statistical tests would be suitable for it, or why it matters.
Regardless of your level of experience, I can help!

R Studio training (postgraduates)
I can help you with (almost) every stage of the research process, from formulating questions that can be answered with your data, to supporting you with the best statistical tests and visualisations for your data. These decisions should consider many things, which you might not be aware of.

R Studio support for educators
Having taught high school and university students for several years, I’ve noticed a common trend: students are using coding environments but supervisors and lecturers are often still using Excel. This could potentially hold students back if a coding problem is identified, and reduce the effectiveness of the student-teacher relationship.
Many professors may feel that they lack time to learn how to code. In fact, doing data cleaning, summarising and presenting in R Studio will save you hours that can be used for other things. Since you are reading this, you may already appreciate the practical applications of R Studio. I can help you with it!

Digital products and consultation
I have helped numerous companies with their data analysis needs. Recently I helped an education company with a brief to calculate right and wrong answers in student exams across different question types, and present the results as graphs and tables. Each student now receives an individual report with feedback that actually helps them to improve.
Data analysis is essential for any company to maintain and grow. Whether you would like the data analysed for you, a product generated, or help with staff training, please reach out to discuss!
About Me…

Hi everyone, my name is Jordan (or Jordy).
My background is in Oceanography, and I hold a B.Sc. in Marine Science with Arctic Studies, a M.Sc in Climate Change: Impacts and Mitigation, and a PhD in Oceanography. I have also completed two postdoc positions, one to deliver an education program for high school students, and a second in plankton research.
My major academic focus was on a type of marine organisms known as chaetognaths, which are very cool and need more attention. These worm-like creatures fill the oceans, and whilst they may look alike, they survive and co-exist by having very unique strategies from species to species. Working on them allowed me to publish several papers in high-ranking academic journals such as “Progress in Oceanography” and “Marine Ecology Progress Series”.
But it was during my time working on them that I realised my true love - data. I love working with datasets, regardless of their subject, to answer complex questions, whether in science or otherwise.
I think part of my interest in data is associated with an important aspect of my identity. I am autistic, and was diagnosed as an adult just a couple of years ago. Autistic communities refer to the thing that autistic people love to do as their “special interest”. Yeah, data is my special interest. Isn’t it amazing that behind all those numbers might lie a solution that, upon finding, could help us understand something better, or positively impact society?
Many companies are currently appreciating the value that neurodivergent people can bring to the workforce, and some data companies are exclusively hiring autistic people due to their recognised abilities to find patterns, notice details that other might miss, and “don’t give up” attitude.
Once you have the right person, you also need the right tool, and for me that’s R Studio. I’ve been teaching it (mostly using Microsoft Teams) to about 100 students in the last several years, and have received great reviews.
